Project type
Course Creation
Date
April 2024
Location
UT
I recently completed the development of an advanced training course for the National Association of Field Training Officers (NAFTO) 2024 National Conference. This course, titled "Do it My Way, Or the Wrong Way: Utilizing Productive Feedback, Constructive Criticism, & Self Reflection," is designed to enhance the skills of Field Training Officers (FTOs) and their supervisors in providing effective feedback and fostering a growth mindset.
Responsibilities and Contributions:
> Course Design: Developed a comprehensive curriculum that aligns with NAFTO’s training objectives and standards.
> Content Creation: Created detailed training materials, including a workbook, presentations, and practical exercises, focusing on productive feedback, constructive criticism, and self-reflection.
> Interactive Learning: Designed interactive modules and real-world scenarios to facilitate hands-on learning and practical application of the concepts.
> Assessment Tools: Developed assessment tools to evaluate participants' understanding and proficiency in delivering feedback and criticism, including quizzes, role-playing exercises, and reflective activities.
Tools and Software:
Utilized Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office, and Canva for creating and designing course materials. Incorporated e-learning platforms for interactive modules and assessments.
A key challenge was ensuring that the course content was both comprehensive and accessible to participants with varying levels of experience. By incorporating feedback from trial sessions and iteratively refining the materials, I successfully created an engaging and effective training program.
The course has been well-received by NAFTO and is set to be a key component of their 2024 national conference. It is expected to significantly improve the training process and outcomes for FTOs and their supervisors, fostering a more supportive and effective law enforcement community.
